Fox and the goat story

Once upon a time there was a fox living in the forest. It was a hot summer day. The fox was very thirsty. Looking around for a place to quench his thirst, he came across a well that had very little water in it a few distance. They both were so thirsty that they got down into it and quenched their thirst. Having had their fill, the goat wondered how they would get out of the well.

The fox said, "Don't worry. You leave that to me. All you have to do is stand firm, while I'll climb up with your help. Once I get out, I'll pull you up."

The goat unaware of the fox's shrewdness, agreed and soon the fox was out. Once out, it went its way, leaving the poor goat behind.

Fox and the grapes story

Once upon a time there was a fox living in the forest.  It was strolling through the woods. He came upon a grape orchard.  There he found a bunch of beautiful grapes hanging from a high branch. "Wow those sure would be tasty," he thought to himself.

He backed up and took a running start, and jumped. He did not get high enough. He went back to his starting spot and tried again. He almost got high enough this time, but not quite. He tried and tried, again and again, but just couldn't get high enough to grab the grapes.  Finally, he gave up. As he walked away, he put his nose in the air and said: "I am sure those grapes are sour."

Moral: It is easy to scorn what you cannot get.

Lion and the mouse story

It was a hot summer day. Sun was shining bright up in the sky. A lion was sitting under the shade of a big tree and in some time got asleep. Nearby that tree, there was a hole, in which there lived a mouse. When the lion was sleeping, the mouse came out of its hole and saw him asleep.

Unaware of the lion's strength, it got tickled by an idea. It thought of waking up the lion by running over his body just for fun.

Unfortunately, the lion seized it in his strong paw. The mouse pleaded for its life. Being generous by nature, the lion set it free. The mouse promised to help the lion if it ever got the chance. The lion laughed aloud at this. After all, how could a tiny mouse help the king of the jungle?

A few days later, the mouse was passing through the jungle when he saw the same lion trapped in a hunter's net. Immediately, it set to work, gnawing at the ropes. Very soon the tiny mouse had ser the lion free.

Remember, mercy never goes unrewarded.
